The American company Chevrolet officially introduced the new Blazer lineup in 2018, but then only ICE versions of vehicles were released to the US market. Now, four years after the official announcement, the manufacturer decided to release a more modern representative of the line – we are talking about the Blazer EV electric car, which should become the main competitor to the rather popular Ford Mustang Mach-e electric car in the USA. For the sake of this, the electric Blazer EV was built on the Ultium platform – the GMC Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV and Cadillac Lyriq cars are also based on it.
At the same time, the developers of the vehicle said that their new product will be the first car on the latest platform, which will be sold in three drive options – front, rear and all-wheel drive. At the moment, there really is no Ultium-based electric car that provides such an arsenal of options. But the basic version of the car called Blazer EV 1LT, of course, will be sold exclusively in front-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not name the power of the basic electric motors, but there is information that this version of the car will travel 400 kilometers on a single charge, plus 18-inch wheels and LED optics are already included in the base.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV 2LT version, which is an intermediate option, provides a potential buyer with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the range is already 470 kilometers. That’s already quite an impressive mileage per charge by today’s standards, but there’s also a more advanced Blazer EV RS that will be sold with either drive option, with a range of 515 kilometers. In addition, the RS version will have an interesting feature – an animated LED strip that will connect the running lights into a single lighting element.
The most advanced version of the new electric car is the Chevrolet Blazer EV SS model, which is a real flagship in the line. There are two electric motors with a total capacity of 565 horsepower on all-wheel drive (on the motor on the front and rear axles), and acceleration from standstill to a hundred takes less than 4 seconds from the vehicle. But there is no need to talk about a record power reserve – only 470 kilometers on a single charge. The reason, apparently, is the 22-inch wheels, which reduce the overall range, plus a sporty suspension setup.
