42% of workers prefer a hybrid work model, says survey

Avoiding travel, having flexibility at home and interacting in person with colleagues are among the reasons that make 42% of workers prefer the hybrid work model, that is, some days a week remotely and some working at the company.

That is what a survey carried out by the website Vagas.com, a recruitment and selection company, points out, which also identified that the maintenance of in-person relationships with other people in the company appears in the lead in the arguments in favor of the hybrid model, representing 31% of the responses.

Then comes the flexibility to adapt the work to other domestic activities (16.8%) and avoid the daily commute to work (14%). The justifications for gaining time for other personal activities (8.8%), having greater focus and concentration (7%), being able to take care of children or other family members in a few days (5.5%), among others, were also cited.

The survey also sought to find out how many days would be ideal to work at the company, in the hybrid model. Respondents indicated preferably three days (41%), followed by two days (33%), four days (14%), one day (5.6%) and others (6.4%).

Face-to-face work was preferred by 32%, and the reasons that most stood out for choosing this option were: having greater focus and concentration (37%), having face-to-face relationships with other people in the company (32.6%), having a suitable environment for working (furniture and infrastructure) (16.4%), leaving the home environment (4.3%), among others.

And the fully remote method was the choice of 26%. For these, the main motivations are: working in companies in any region in Brazil and abroad (27.5%), avoiding commuting to work (14%), taking care of children and other family members and gaining time for other personal activities ( 11.75% each) and having the flexibility to adapt work to other household activities (10.4%), among others.

Ludmila Seki, a marketing specialist at Vagas.com, says that the survey consolidates the model as the “dearest of employees”. For her, since it began to be implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic, workers have realized the possibility of reconciling professional and personal activities.

“This flexibility was quickly noticed and aroused great motivation for many people, who never thought they could adjust professional and personal schedules. But these same people also saw that it was necessary to go to work, even less often, to interact with colleagues. This is here to stay and is already a competitive advantage for companies in attracting and retaining talent,” says Seki.

The study “Workplace Preferences” was carried out from October 29th to November 7th, by e-mail, with the participation of 11,601 candidates from the Vagas.com database. The objective of the research is to understand the candidates’ preferences for the available work models and the reasons why they like these formats the most.
