5.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Konya

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook the Meram district of Konya. The quake affected Antalya, Aksaray and Isparta.

According to the information transmitted by the Ministry of Interior, the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 20:43 in the Meram district of Konya. The focal depth of the earthquake was announced at 10.61 km.

On the other hand, the Kandili Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake at 5 Richter.

Although no injuries have been reported so far, the panic of the citizens who poured into the streets en masse was typical.

The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, in a statement on his social media account, said: “I address my wishes to all my fellow citizens due to the 5.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Meram district of Konya. “We are watching the developments. May God protect our country from any kind of catastrophe,” he said.

The mayor of Meram, Mustafa Kavous, said there was no problem other than minor damage, telling CNN Türk: “There were no casualties or damage from the quake, thank God. People inevitably felt panic. The quake lasted. “10 seconds,” he said.

The presidency of the Ministry of Interior, Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), stated that so far, there is no victim after the earthquake.
