One person was killed, two others were injured and about 25 houses were severely damaged in the aftermath earthquake of the 5.6 points noted earlier today at Nepal and was felt as far as New Delhi, the capital of India.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 61 km northwest of Jumla – more than 300 km from the capital Kathmandu – and the focal depth was estimated at 10 km, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
Rescue crews rushed to the Bazura region, in the western part of the country, where collapsed buildings were reported.
A woman died in Gaumul community when a rock fell and crushed her.
Last November, six people died in a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that struck western Nepal.
In April 2015, a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck central Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and destroying nearly half a million homes.
