5 biopics that will feature our favorite celebs

A film genre that has recently been in fashion and is particularly appreciated by the public is that of biopics, or the films that reconstruct the life of a character who really existed. Often at the center of the plot are the biographies of icons of fashion and entertainment, of institutional and historical figures, or of other well-known faces from troubled and complex existences. Through these films, we enter the depths of each of these, seeing the lights and shadows of their success and their careers. If we add the fact that our favorite celebs are playing them, well, then we can’t wait to be in the cinema.

Would you like to know more? Here are 5 that you absolutely cannot miss:

The biopic on Aretha Franklin, the queen of soul who passed away in 2018, will be released in Italian cinemas on 7 October. To interpret one of the most beloved and iconic singers of all time is Jennifer Hudson, already winner ai Golden Globes. Respect (like the famous single) tells the true story of this artist who has always fought to find and make her voice heard in the midst of the turbulent social and political landscape ofAmerica of the sixties. In the cast, too Mary J Blige. Need anything else? This fall, everyone to the cinema!

BLONDE WITH ANA DE ARMAS

The highly anticipated biopic on Marilyn Monroe, directed by Andrew Dominik, it should come out on Netflix later this year. The film takes its title from the pseudo biography of the iconic actress written by Joyce Carol Oates in 2000 and retraces his life and career until his tragic death, which occurred at the age of 36. It will therefore not be a faithful reconstruction, but an imaginative elaboration of the successes and loves, torments and challenges of the blonde preferred by the men of her time. Ana de Armas, as this diva of immortal charm, said she spent more than a year perfecting her accent. Can’t wait!

ELVIS CON AUSTIN BUTLER

The dramatic musical about the life of the king of rock should be released in June 2022. In the guise of the legendary Elvis presley it will be Austin Butler, directed by Baz Luhrmann: “He was able to evoke its timbre and iconic movements and he entered the part perfectly also with regards to its most intimate and vulnerable side,” said the director. Also in the cast Tom Hanks, who plays the colonel Tom Parker, the singer’s enigmatic manager. The film will deepen their complex relationship over more than twenty years, from the beginnings to the achievement of the fame of the famous singer, against the backdrop of a constantly evolving cultural landscape.

THE FILM ABOUT RONNIE SPECTOR WITH ZENDAYA

It was the same singer, historical frontwoman of the Ronettes, to choose zendaya as its interpreter. To convince her, theEmmy won by the actress for Euphoria. The film will be inspired by his autobiography entitled Be my baby (like the single that became a success all over the world) and will tell the life of the artist in the round: from the formation of the musical group, also composed of the elder sister Estelle Bennett and from her cousin Nedra Talley, the difficult relationship with Phil Spector (who will later become her husband), until the legal battle to get the rights to his music back. Ronnie Spector has joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and still today she is known as the first bad girl of rock and roll.

GOING ELECTRIC CON TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET

Due to the pandemic, the commitments of the director and the protagonist, the production of this biopic has been paused (at least for the moment), but it is not excluded that it may resume as early as next year. Also because, let’s be honest: who you want to lose Timothée Chalamet in the role of Bob Dylan, the minstrel Nobel Prize, directed by James Mangold? Not me. Then you do.
