5 main fitness trends for 2025, according to experts

It is not uncommon for the beginning of the year to be a period used to establish new goals and strategies aimed at a better quality of life.

With that in mind, the CNN spoke with experts from the fitness world to find out what the main trends of 2025 are that should help those who are passionate (or even beginners) about training and body care. Check it out:

1. Increased awareness about longevity

Currently, Brazilian life expectancy at birth is 76.4 years, according to estimates by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). When the breakdown is made by gender, the expectation for women is 79.7 years and for men, 73.1 years.

The Covid-19 pandemic had a negative impact on these numbers, but there has already been a recovery. In this sense, the projection is that Brazilians will live longer and seek to maintain a quality of life throughout these years, explains personal trainer Fefa Pasini, a specialist in women’s training.

“People are more aware of the benefits of physical exercise and demand training that meets their individual needs. Those who do not find satisfactory results in gyms are migrating to personalized services”, says the professional.

2. Use of technology and data-driven fitness

In the past, the use of wearables and apps for monitoring heart rate, sleep and stress levels was restricted to monitoring high-performance athletes. Nowadays, however, this is all within the reach of ordinary people and has significant impacts on the desired results.

“We use technology to create personalized workouts. Devices such as smartwatches and performance sensors provide valuable information such as heart rate zones, recovery levels and even real-time glucose variations. With this data, it is possible to adjust loads, intensities and even the weekly training schedule”, explains Chico Salgado, the person responsible for training celebrities such as Bruna Marquezine, Fernanda Torres, among others.

According to the physical educator, the data obtained through such devices can also contribute to aligning nutrition and mental health strategies, creating an integrated journey for students.

3. Hybrid workouts

The online training consultancy model gained strength with the pandemic and has continued to this day. Fefa, for example, offers its expertise remotely to its students remotely and in the content it shares on its Instagram page (@fefapasini).

Still, there are those who enjoy the face-to-face consultancy method. Therefore, a trend that stands out is the hybrid, which mixes a little of both worlds. “It offers flexibility and allows people to train anywhere, whilst being monitored by qualified professionals”, comments Salgado.

4. Biohacking

The term refers to strategies that combine technology and biology. According to Salgado, the concept applies to the fitness universe in breathing training, immersion in cold water and electromagnetic stimuli.

“They are becoming popular as ways to increase performance and recovery [do corpo]”, indicates the staff.

5. Integrated care

It is not enough to dedicate efforts just to gain muscle mass or increase physical conditioning. It is necessary to understand the body as a single and integrated system, which must encompass care with nutrition, the physical and mental aspects.

“THE connection between body and mind is evident . Physical exercise is not limited to the immediate well-being caused by the release of endorphins. Over time, the benefits accumulate: pain relief, improvement in body posture and even strengthening of the immune system (…) The most interesting thing is that training, which previously seemed like just another ‘obligation’, has become a pillar essential for the emotional health of students”, points out Fefa.

Salgado goes in the same direction and comments that the highlight for 2025 is the so-called “integrated multimodal training”.

“There are different types of training, such as functional, resistance, mobility and mindfulness, within the same session. This approach works on multiple physical capabilities and promotes balance between body and mind, something that people are increasingly valuing.”
