The year began and several musicals are scheduled to be shown in Brazilian theaters in 2025. Among the productions, Broadway musicals such as “Mamma Mia” and “Wicked” are already confirmed to debut in March.
In addition to these, other titles are already awaited by fans, such as the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” which arrives in Latin America for the first time.

“Mamma Mia”
Claudia Netto, Maria Brasil, Gottsha and Maria Clara Gueiros return to the main roles in the show that will be presented at Teatro Bradesco, in São Paulo, and at Teatro Riachuelo Rio in Rio de Janeiro.
In the capital of São Paulo, the premiere takes place on March 14th and the performances run until April 6th. In Rio, the first performance will be on April 18th, and the last on May 11th. Tickets are now on sale at Uhuu website.

“Wicked”
“Wicked” the Broadway musical, will return to São Paulo for a season at Teatro Renault. Presentations will take place from the day March 20, 2025 and ticket sales are now available on Tickets For Fun website or directly at the Renault Theater box office.
The actresses Fabi Bang and Myra Ruiz who are also the official voice actresses for the film “Wicked”, were confirmed for the main roles in the musical as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively.
The assembly will feature Arízio Magalhães (Dr. Dillamond), Baccic (Wizard of Oz), Hipólyto (Fiyero), Karin Hils (Madame Morrible), Luisa Bresser (Nesrose) and Thadeu Torres (Boq), in addition to an orchestra made up of 17 musicians.

“Mean Girls”
Another Broadway musical already confirmed to come to Brazil is “Meninas Malvadas”, which also premieres March 13 at Teatro Santander, in São Paulo. Tickets are on sale at Sympla website.
According to information from the musical itself, in North America, the show had an audience of almost 1 million people, grossing more than US$124 million, and broke box office records five consecutive times on Broadway. It is currently showing in London.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
The play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” which is currently on display at Broadway in New York, will arrive in Brazil in 2025 . This will be the experience’s first time in Latin America and the official dates have not yet been revealed.
Written by Jack Thorne the play is a magical extension of the story that has captivated generations. Its script explores the challenges of a new generation of wizards and an epic confrontation that mixes the past and the future, with innovative illusionistic and magical effects that will surprise the audience.
Recognized as the most awarded new play in theater history, the show won 24 awards in the United Kingdom and 25 in the United States, including six Tony Awards, including Best Play.

“Rita Lee: A Musical Autobiography”
The musical about the life of the Brazilian singer will have a new season in São Paulo this year. After more than 100 presentations and 60 thousand spectators, since March 2024, sales for the new dates opened in November and are still available on Sympla website.
Performances take place from January 31st to April 27th. For her role as the rocker, Mel Lisboa received three nominations for Best Actress awards: DID (Destaque Imprensa Digital), São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) and Shell.
In “Rita Lee – A Musical Autobiography”, the actress tells the story of the tropicalista based on the singer’s autobiography, released in 2016.
