At the top of the ranking is the Tuscan Maremma but it is there Sardinia, also this year, the region in which by far the largest number of 5 Vele: with 6 out of 18 ski resorts (you can see them all in the gallery above) is the most awarded region for cleanliness of the sea, beauty and sustainability in environmental management from Legambiente and Italian Touring Club, in their annual guide. IS The most beautiful sea, now in its twenty-first edition, and the most awaited of the summer by those who love slow travel in wonderful places remains.
This year brings us to the discovery of 45 of the most beautiful seaside areas in Italy – from Sardinia itself to the Amalfi Coast, passing through oases of biodiversity such as the Po Delta and the Grado Lagoon – selected from 98 tourist areas, that Legambiente and Touring Club have, as always, evaluated on the basis of about one hundred parameters.
They are divided into two main categories: environmental quality and quality of hospitality services. At first it stands out the quality of the water (certified by Goletta Verde) but among the criteria by which the seaside resorts are judged there are also local biodiversity protection policies and all those are central activities that make a slow holiday perfect, for example bike paths, possibility to rent canoes, to make trips in the hinterland after a dip (and they are all indicated in the guide). For each parameter, each location has a score, based on which it earns a certain number of sails (from 1, which is sufficient, to 5 which is excellence) and the ranking is drawn up that this year sees, in fact, the Sardinia in the lead, with important awards obtained by Tuscany, Puglia, Campania and Sicily. IS Trentino Alto Adige, on the other hand, is the top region for the 5 Sails of the lakes, to which the guide has always dedicated a section: in this region there are three out of six lakes in Cinque Vele. Here they are all:
«The places at the top of our ranking – he declares Sebastiano Venneri, Head of Tourism of Legambiente – are the ones who will have the most chance to win the challenges of the future, that is, those able to best combine environmental issues with the prospects of economic development, which will know more than others to seize the opportunities that will come from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and translate them into the occasion of rebirth and strengthening of the economic fabric and, above all , of the social one “. “The twenty-first edition of this guide is a promise of well-being and happy abandonment to nature – he claims Franco Iseppi, President of the Italian Touring Club – the more precious the harder the proof that the pandemic has imposed on everyone ». «From this test we come out with the possibility, and in some ways the necessity, of rthinking about our relationship with the environment by basing it on more stringent logic of sustainability, responsibility, respect for the earth and future generations», The Touring President concluded, commenting on the arrival of this guide exactly a year and a half since the start of the pandemic, which has once again shown us how crucial it is for our future to respect the environment.
