Winter came once in a while Curitiba and few things go together so well with this chill than a good wine . With that in mind, this month’s column brings 5 wine bars charming and welcoming, with very different styles, to taste good labels and chat with friends.
Balbino and Martins
Self-titled as a wine bar and home of Jerez, the Balbino and Martins is run by sommeliers Guilherme Balbino and Jonas Martins which make the house a relaxed and irreverent environment.
The bar occupies a beautiful historic house in Curitiba. For cold days, there is the interior space, very colorful and with sconce lighting, which gives the impression of being inside a movie. For hot days, there’s a nice backyard with several tables, lighting made by strings of little yellow lights, a safe oasis in the middle of the Rebouças neighborhood.
There are approximately 100 labels available, most of them quite different from what you find in traditional wine stores. You can open and taste right there, or you can buy and take home. And if you like Jerez, this is your place. The house offers 9 options of Jerez by the glass (R$18 to R$38).
There are also frequent events with sommeliers and winemakers invited to taste special wines, paired with Guilherme Balbino’s always delicious culinary inventions. To top it off, you still receive an unusual certificate.
Five flavors of pizza are served daily (margherita, pepperoni, onion and cheese, mushrooms with caramelized onions and the house’s best seller, zucchini with bacon), for R$ 35, portions of cheeses and salami (from R$ 22) and one of the best jaguar meats in town (R$ 28), which is made in limited portions, to ensure the meat is always fresh. You can still order, 1 day in advance, the steak tartare (R$ 48).

Vino!
One of the first wine bars in town, Vino! was created by entrepreneur Raphael Zanette , and already has three units in Curitiba and several franchises in other cities. All units here have great music and a lively atmosphere.
The first and largest is the Vino! Boat , which was recently expanded, and now also has a space for tastings and courses. There is also a charming deck with chairs covered with blankets, blankets and heaters, so that no one gets cold on these freezing Curitiba nights.
The Wine! Batel has 250 to 300 labels available, all hand-selected by Raphael Zanette during his travels, and 20 to 25 wine options by the glass (R$15 to R$60).
O Vino! Cabral It has one of the most charming gardens in the city, with many araucaria trees around it, strings of lights and heaters everywhere. The interior space is under renovation.
At the Mercadoteca unit, you can choose your wine and taste it at any other establishment in the gastronomic market.
The food menu has great options such as the arancini with tomato marmalade (R$28), the Tuscan sausage ragu with soft egg and house bread (R$38) and the mushroom risotto with truffle butter (R$33). ).

THE Gabo Books and Wines has the proposal to offer different wines, Brazilian, organic, natural and biodynamic, in a funky space, which is also used for tasting and harmonization events. THE Água Verde unit It also has a superior, intimate and Instagrammable environment. THE Juventus unit It has a deck, where jazz performances take place.
The houses have approximately 200 labels available, which change frequently, always keeping up with the latest, and around 4-5 choices of wines by the glass per day (around R$20, depending on the wines offered). Nobile Wine
THE Nobile Wine a beautiful winery next to the train line, owned by the sommelier Fábio Cardoso, houses more than 800 labels, ranging from R$ 29.90 to R$ 26 thousand a bottle. Any of the labels can be purchased and consumed on the spot for the price of the label. There are normally 4 options of wine by the glass per day (R$14.90 to R$25.90).
The property is spacious and, in addition to the wine cellar, has a restaurant, emporium, space for smoking cigars, space for events and an outdoor deck, perfect for hot days. For cold days, the interior is heated by a delightful fireplace.
In the kitchen we have options for Happy hour, such as the Meat Dumpling (R$45), Arancini (R$39) or Octopus in Paprika Butter (R$74), and for lunch/dinner, such as the Sun-Dried Tomato Risotto (R$46) or the Lamb Palette (R$320, serves 4 people). Located on the mezzanine Restaurant Praça do Victo r, in Praça da Espanha, the upstairs has a decor that honors artists and international music personalities such as David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Madonna.
The bar offers more than 70 labels (from R$40), and is curated by the owner and passionate about wines. Urban boy. Every day there are 4 options of wine by the glass (R$19 to R$39).
Snacks and portions such as tapioca blini with shrimp (R$22), mini pastries (R$15) and pizzetas (from R$22) are available from the kitchen. On Wednesdays there is live music.
