$550,000 was stolen from the Fantom Foundation

Fantom Foundation Hot Wallets were hackedcausing the organization to lose approximately $550,000. Some of the affected accounts belong to one of the employees.

One of the first to report an attack on the organization was an analyst under the pseudonym Spreek. He referred to a message on Telegram that talked about a zero-day vulnerability in Google Chrome, which was the reason for the hack.

According to his assessment, the damage amounted to about $6.7 million. Later, CertiK analysts confirmed the information about the hack. They initially estimated the loss at $657,000, but then increased it to $7 million.

As a result, the fact of hacking was confirmed by the Fantom Foundation. Estimated damage is $550,000. Exact losses are unknown at the time of writing.

The organization emphasized that 99% of the fund’s funds are safe, since most of them are placed on cold wallets. They also noted that some of the affected accounts belong to one of the employees.

According to the organization’s statement, the attack could have been targeted. The investigation into the incident continues.
