Among the 153 killed in the apparent wave of crowds in Seoul’s popular nightclub district, Itaewon, were 56 men and 97 women, South Korea’s Ministry of Interior and Security said on Sunday.
Four victims were teenagers, 95 people in their 20s, 32 people in their 30s, nine in their 40s and 13 are yet to be identified, the ministry said.
As of 5 pm (local time) on Sunday (4 am ET), the number of people injured has risen to 133, of whom 37 are seriously injured, the ministry said.
People died at a Halloween event on Saturday night (29). The riot took place in a narrow alley, caused by overcrowding. People got crushed and fell into each other.
The Itaewon district is popular with young South Koreans and expats, with dozens of bars and restaurants that were packed on Saturday for Halloween.
