570 km on a single charge and three displays: XPeng introduced the G9 for 44 thousand dollars

Yesterday, September 21, the Chinese automotive giant XPeng officially introduced the world to an electric crossover called the G9, telling all the details about the characteristics of the car, its price and other important parameters. For example, the company said that the G9 is built on a unique Chinese 800V SiC platform with sufficiently powerful electric propulsion systems and support for fast charging technology. Accordingly, a crossover based on the new CATL 4C batteries can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes, while 5 minutes at the “outlet” gives the car an energy reserve of 200 kilometers.

This is actually an impressive charging rate for an electric vehicle, but the manufacturer decided not to stop there. I would also like to note that the XPeng G9 already has a power reserve of 570 kilometers in the basic configuration. Of course, this is not a record for the electric car market, but the distance on one charge is still greater than that of the vast majority of competitors on the market. There are also versions for 650 and 700 kilometers – in accordance with the autonomy, the manufacturer also named the vehicle equipment. A very unusual approach to naming models, but this has already happened in China.

But the main advantage of the XPeng G9 car is that the crossover is actually extremely affordable. In the basic configuration with a leather interior, large displays and a mileage of 570 kilometers on a single charge, the car costs only 44 thousand dollars (translated from yuan). Finding a modern European electric car with the same premium interior and mileage above 400 kilometers at the same price is simply unrealistic. But even the top equipment from the Chinese manufacturer is inexpensive – a little more than 66 thousand dollars. The first deliveries of this car are scheduled for the end of 2022, so it won’t be too long to wait for the new product.

And although the prices are really low (although, of course, the price of a car in China is a relative concept), XPeng engineers were not afraid to integrate the second generation XNGP system, which is a complete driver assistance system, into the crossover. This system will operate from 2023 in all cities in China, using the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chip for data and information processing. However, foreign buyers should not be upset either – when production reaches 10 thousand cars per month, the G9 can be sent to foreign markets.
