In an interview with CNN, the president of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), Leonardo Euler, stated that the 5G technology will allow a revolution in several areas. The auction on the new mobile connectivity standard promoted by Anatel began this Thursday (4).
“5G cannot be seen in just one way. There are different forms and the network adapts — it’s a flexible network — according to the application it requires,” said Euler.
“Certainly, we will have many applications with augmented reality, virtual reality, which will allow us to revolutionize areas such as health, education, public safety.”
The auction took place at Anatel’s auditorium, in Brasília, and may extend until Friday (5), depending on the pace at which the proposals are analyzed. Groups such as Claro, Vivo and TIM have already secured licenses for 5G.
“If 4G changed people’s lives, 5G will reshape society and productive environments,” said Euler.
“We’re not just talking about another G, but an umbrella that involves and leverages several technologies. So it’s not just about speeding up.”
