5G expert suggests people wait for launches to switch phones

Although five regions of Brazil are already capable of 5G, only 71 telephone devices are able to connect to the network, data from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) show.

In this way, José Ronaldo Rocha, a partner at EY, recommends that people wait for the launch of new devices to change their phone. “As we are in the process of implementing [do 5G], a lot will happen in the next six months. Who can wait and not change the phone now, good and affordable things will come”.

He believes that if telecommunications companies don’t make cell phones cheaper, “they will certainly lose a large audience.” For now, only products approved by Anatel can use 5G (See the full list here).

Another point that the specialist raises about the Brazilian buying a device at this moment is that the time of maturation and use of the technology will take, “[ou seja]we will only see [mudanças completas por conta do 5G] In the next years”.

neighborhoods

The distribution of 5G depends on operators and not all neighborhoods will have access to the technology. So, even if a person has the device, they may not be able to connect to the track.

According to Anatel, “each provider has its own network deployment and expansion strategy. Therefore, it is natural that, at this initial moment, not all operators serve all neighborhoods and regions”.

The agency recommends that people also contact operators to find out if a particular location will have the network available.
