5G should require more robust mobile plans from operators, says expert

The specialist in technology and digital security Arthur Igreja said, in an interview with CNN which 5G should demand from operators more robust cellular plans.

The new network should have less latency and be 100 times faster than 4G. In this way, the consumption of the plans will be at the same intensity, that is, “[se continuarem igual a hoje]will end almost instantly.”

In addition to the plans, Church also highlighted that it will be necessary to change devices, since the “trend is for 5G to become standard”. So far, according to data from Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), 70 models support 5G.

For now, only products approved by Anatel can use 5G.

Use of 5G

The 3.5 GHz band, known as “pure” 5G, will be available from this Friday (29) in the regions of Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Porto Alegre.

Brasília was the first Brazilian city to receive “full 5G” technology, on July 6, 2022.

In early July, the Ministries of Communications and Anatel announced that the city of São Paulo would also receive the frequency along with the other capitals.

However, Igreja stated that, although these regions have already confirmed the implementation by Anatel, it is not the entire city that will have the technology available. Thus, “it should be normal to connect to 5G, have an amazing speed, and then connect to 4G again, if the person walks a few meters”.

Distribution

The distribution of 5G depends on the operators. That way, even if a person has the device, they may not be able to connect to the track.

According to Anatel, “each provider has its own network deployment and expansion strategy. Therefore, it is natural that, at this initial moment, not all operators serve all neighborhoods and regions”.

The agency recommends that people also contact operators to find out if a particular location will have the network available.
