5G is considered the new generation of the internet, being associated with technologies such as the internet of things, autonomous devices and vehicles and the use of virtual reality. For the president of Abranet (Brazilian Internet Association), Eduardo Neger, the network will bring a great opportunity for development in Brazil.
“In the short term, the average user will not be motivated to have 5G. This may be a little disheartening right now, but 5G will bring a huge development opportunity because applications for this network have not yet been developed. There is a lot of talk about holography, videos with a little higher definition, augmented reality applications. All this will still be developed”, stated Neger.
Eduardo also stated that the great benefit that 5G will bring is the technology known as the Internet of Things (ioT), which is the possibility of connecting to any device, such as a toothbrush, for example.
“The big paradigm shift with 5G is the amount of device we can connect. With the network, we will have what we call the ‘internet of things’: devices begin to have an internet connection, so it will not only be our cell phone, but also appliances, vehicles and even a toothbrush”, said the CEO.
