6.4 magnitude earthquake hits Chile; tremors are felt in Santiago

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred this Friday (13) at night, local time, in Chile, and shook the central region, including the capital, Santiago.

According to information from the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake was recorded 41 km east of Molina, Curicó, at a depth of 110 kilometers.

As of the latest updates, authorities have not reported any damage to people, infrastructure or basic services as a result of the earthquake, but are monitoring.

The Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOA) in Chile has ruled out the possibility of a tsunami in the country.
