Very soon, on August 30 at 02:00 Moscow time, AMD employees will officially introduce the world to the new processors of the Ryzen 7000 line, as well as motherboards for them and more. But, as is often the case in the high-tech world, users learned a huge amount of information from the presentation (thanks to insiders) in advance. And now, in addition to the characteristics, prices have also appeared on the network, which, unfortunately, have not changed in comparison with the previous generation of Ryzen processors. On the other hand, it’s worth recalling that Intel promises to raise prices by 20% in the new generation of chips, so AMD looks more profitable.
Leaked prices for new processors:
- Ryzen 9 7950X – $799
- Ryzen 9 7900X – $549
- Ryzen 7 7700X – $449
- Ryzen 5 7600X – $299
If you look at the younger model Ryzen 5 7600X, which costs $ 299, then Intel has something to answer – the “blue team” has processors for $ 200-250, which are approximately comparable in terms of characteristics (naturally, only on paper). However, for the money, AMD provides 6 cores with 12 threads and a base clock speed of 4.7 GHz, which rises to 5.3 GHz in heavy mode. With a power consumption of 105 W, these are quite decent parameters, plus a new architecture. Intel has something to answer, and the competitor has a TDP of 65 watts without load, so the competition in this segment will be impressive.
Next on the list is the Ryzen 7 7700X processor, which AMD itself positions as the best solution for gamers thanks to 8 cores and 16 threads. Moreover, the user can easily increase the frequency of the chip to 5.4 GHz, but keep in mind that the power consumption in this case will also be far from the declared 105 watts. And although the Ryzen 7 7700X seems like a good option, it’s worth recalling that even the Intel Core i7-12700 with 12 cores and 20 threads costs $350, which is a hundred dollars cheaper than AMD’s new products. The Ryzen 9 7900X has a completely similar situation – it is a direct competitor to the Core i7-12700K, only the Intel processor costs $450, and the upcoming new product from AMD is $550.
But the most interesting situation happens with the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X – it is a direct competitor to the Core i9-12900K. The AMD chip under load in Boost mode can push the clock speed up to 5.7 GHz, which is certainly very pleasant, but the declared power consumption in idle mode is 170 watts. In fact, it will be twice as much under load, which is worth considering, plus the price of the flagship AMD chip is $800, while the Core i9-12900K sells for $600. It turns out that even if Intel raises prices in the new generation of processors, the blue products will still be more affordable.
