At the head of the BestFork group, the entrepreneur Marcelo Torres built one of the largest restaurant conglomerates in Rio de Janeiro. Under its wings are seven prestigious gastronomic brands, such as Giuseppe Grill and Yusha .
This year, the carioca restaurateur launched his most ambitious project — the Giuseppe Square in which were invested BRL 12 million . The house occupies a space of 1,500 square meters inside BarraShopping.
The idea was to bring together in one place the best recipes from six of the group’s restaurants: Giuseppe (Italian), Giuseppe Grill (meat), Giuseppe Mar (fish and seafood), Nolita (Italian-American), Yusha (Asian) and Laguiole (contemporary). For the operation to work, he decided to set up six independent kitchens to serve the hall that holds almost 300 people.
Only the great one was left out of the pool Xi’an (which also belongs to the BestFork group), as its Asian cooking style is similar to Yusha’s.
O Giuseppe Square is a peculiar restaurant, where the waiter can deliver pizza, a sushi and sashimi combo and a shrimp bobó with rice and palm oil farofa at the same time. It is impossible not to find something that pleases the palate in the menu with 150 suggestions .
Two highlights among the starters are the shredded rib pan with porcini mushroom and manioc puree (R$42), from Giuseppe Grill, and the mini shrimp tempura with spicy mayonnaise (R$46), from Yusha.
As for grilled meats, take note: the picanha supra sumo (R$ 148) is worth the investment, an exclusive cut, extracted from the tenderest part of the picanha. The order gives you the right to choose an accompaniment, such as crazy rice and egg farofa.
Other appetizing suggestions, these from Laguiole, are oxtail rice (R$98) and cassoulet (R$86) — the “French feijoada” prepared with white beans, beef, chicken thighs, paio, pepperoni and bacon. .
To sweeten the program, there are Nolita’s instagrammable milkshakes, which the kids love, and a colossal 20-layer red velvet (R$44).
