6-year-old child rescued by PF in RS in child abuse operation

A 6-year-old child was rescued this Tuesday (30) by the Federal Police in Operation Leafdown, aimed at combating crimes of possession and sharing of child sexual abuse material.

According to the PF, the child was rescued from the home of a 67-year-old man due to signs of abuse, in Rio Grande do Sul. She was taken for treatment and will be under the care of another person.

The man was arrested for having images of abused children on his computer, which was seized. His cell phone was also confiscated.

In total, 21 suspects were arrested in the operation that took place in 12 states with the participation of 200 police officers. The agents carried out 40 search and seizure warrants and, where there was evidence of the crime, the person was arrested.

Computers, cell phones and weapons were seized from the suspects’ homes. The investigation by the Cybercrime Combating Directorate (DCiber) of the Federal Police in Brasília identified the computers that were used to share the crime. With this, the locations were identified for this operation.

For delegate Valdemar Latance Neto, general coordinator of the PF’s Cybercrime Combat, the highlight of the operation was the rescue of the 6-year-old child. “This situation alone was worth the entire operation. The PF’s main focus is to identify victims of abuse. She was rescued, and the investigation continues,” the investigator highlighted to CNN .
