7.1 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines

Earthquake size 7.1 Richter occurred a while ago in the southern part of Philippines, as announced by the country's Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The epicenter is located in the sea area east of Sarangani Island and the focal depth is estimated at 76 kilometers.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.7, while the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reports an earthquake of 6.8.

So far, there are no reports of casualties or significant property damage.

The Philippinesas reported by APE-MPE, are located in the so-called “ring of fire” of the Pacific Ocean, where tectonic plate movements often cause earthquakes and intense volcanic activity.
