A survey by the Union of Hospitals, Clinics and Laboratories of the State of São Paulo (Sindhosp) revealed that 88% of private laboratories in the state face problems for the replacement of tests for Covid-19 and influenza.

The survey was carried out between January 10 and 14 with 111 laboratories, noting a 92% increase in influenza tests and 99% of Covid tests in laboratories in the last 15 days.

The growth in testing for Covid in the period increased 100% in 92% of laboratories.

This number is even higher in some inland regions, such as Jacareí and São José do Rio Preto, with an increase between 501% and 1000%.

The greatest demand for tests for Covid and influenza takes place along with the advancement of the Ômicron and H3N2 variant in Brazil. Pharmacies also record records in carrying out these diagnoses.

Also according to Sindhosp, more than half of the health services have a stock of tests for Covid and flu for less than 7 days, and 22.5% of the laboratories have a stock for 15 to 21 days, with most of them in the inside.

According to Luiz Fernando Ferrari, coordinator of the SindHosp Laboratory Committee, the survey also found that most people who receive a positive diagnosis for Covid-19 are between 30 and 50 years old.
