A nine-year-old child, found on Saturday (26), at Guarulhos airport, in São Paulo, traveled alone from Manaus (AM) after sneaking into a plane. The information was confirmed by the Civil Police of Amazonas, which received contact from an airline as soon as it identified the presence of the unaccompanied minor who has already returned to Manaus, where he is with his family.
Emanuel Marques de Oliveira, 9, was heard by the police team, who also analyzed footage from the airport’s security cameras. The investigation found that the child acted without the help of adults and conducted internet searches on how to get on a plane unnoticed.
According to the police, the child has no history of family violence, having informed that the reason for the trip was the desire to live in São Paulo with other family members. The child’s family was also heard and she is under the guardianship of her parents.
In a statement, Latam reported that the minor was identified on flight LA3168, which traveled from Manaus to São Paulo, on Saturday afternoon (26), with disembarkation at 9:09 pm.
As soon as the child was found unidentified and unaccompanied, the company called the Federal Police and the Guardianship Council, which sent the child to a shelter while the return to Manaus was arranged.
The minor re-boarded a flight on Sunday (27), which arrived at 11:45 am in Manaus, where he was welcomed by local authorities and his family.
“After internal investigations with the Manaus airport security system, the company regrets what happened and informs that security measures are already being reinforced and taken to ensure that this type of situation does not occur again”, says an excerpt from the Latam note. .
