The Colombian girl Emma Sofia, 9 years old, was one of the last interactions with fans of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in the early hours of Saturday (26) in Bogotá. “It was two months of hard work, rehearsals, recording covers and interviews to try and play with the Foo Fighters! We tried every means but we couldn’t. After a lot of frustration I took my drums to the hotel’s sidewalk and played until they heard me and Taylor Hawkins left. That’s how I managed to conquer my dream, ”said the girl on her Instagram profile, where she posted a video of her meeting with the drummer.
“Words are not enough to thank all the people who accompanied me during this campaign and sent me the best energy from all over the world. You gave me the courage to do this! Thanks. My father and mother told me that this is how rock music lives.”
The girl’s father, Julio Peralta, said on his Twitter profile that Emma was performing at her first concert for a large audience when he received the news of the death of the girl’s idol.

Hawkins was 50 years old and was on tour with the band, which would play in Bogotá on Friday (25th) and in São Paulo next Sunday (27th) at Lollapalooza. According to a statement from the Bogotá Department of Health, an ambulance was sent to the hotel after an emergency call reported that a man was experiencing chest pain. “Hawkins did not respond to CPR [sigla para reanimação cardiopulmonar] and was pronounced dead,” the department’s report said.
