A 9-year-old Argentine driver is in serious condition after suffering an accident last Friday (14) during free training in the 4th stage of the SuperBike Brasil, a motorcycle racing championship, at the Autódromo de Interlagos, in São Paulo. Lorenzo Somaschini is admitted to the ICU at Albert Einstein Hospital.
According to the championship organization, Lorenzo fell during training near the exit of Pinheirinho, one of the sectors of Interlagos. He was treated at the scene by the medical team and the Intensive Care Unit ambulance.
The boy was later taken to the local emergency room, where his clinical condition was stabilized. The pilot was taken to Pedreira Hospital and remained there until the early hours of this Saturday (15), when he was transferred to Albert Einstein Hospital, where he remains hospitalized, in serious condition and under observation.
In a statement, Super Bike stated that the championship organization is providing assistance to the rider and his family.
A CNN tries to contact the Albert Einstein Hospital, which stated that there are no updates on the pilot’s health status.
