Yesterday, August 22, Samsung Electronics employees officially presented to the world their new TV from the Neo QLED TV line, which boasts a very impressive diagonal. The fact is that the KQ98QNB100 model is equipped with a 98-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, so it’s just a huge TV (one of the largest in the world), which at the same time received 4K resolution. And this moment, of course, seems strange – Samsung Electronics has models from the Neo QLED TV line with a smaller diagonal, but with a resolution of 8K, while for some reason the 98-inch TV is supplied with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels.
I would also like to note that the new model is implemented on the basis of Mini-LED technology, thanks to which the manufacturer managed to demonstrate peak brightness at the level of 5000 cd/m2. Moreover, during the announcement, the company’s employees said that the brightness is divided into 16,384 levels, between which you can conveniently switch – probably, the brightness can be adjusted to any viewing scenario. Of course, the proprietary Neo Quantum Processor + processor was also not enough – it provides upscaling various video materials to 4K resolution so that the content looks more attractive on such a diagonal.
In addition, Samsung Electronics engineers have worked to ensure that the potential buyer immediately receives high-quality sound – a 6.4.4 format speaker system (six front speakers, four radiators on top and four subwoofers) with a total power of 120 watts is installed here. There is also support for advanced Object Tracking Sound + technology, which can track objects on the screen and “move” the sound through the speakers, following something in a particular scene. HDR10, HDR10 + and HLG technologies are also supported, which improve image quality.
The design of the TV is also quite interesting, as the display is enclosed in a metal frame, and the thickness of the entire TV is only 19.9 mm, which is 35% thinner than the previous generation models. But in terms of the operating system, there is nothing surprising – proprietary Tizen OS is used with support for Bixby and Alexa voice assistants. But the most interesting thing is that the cost of this TV is $ 33,900 – even with advanced technology, this is just a huge cost. For example, the QN90A model with a diagonal of 85 inches and a resolution of 4K costs only $ 2,600.
