99% of fatal accidents are due to human errors

Most fatal accidents (over 99%) are due to human errors, drivers’ abusive behavior, but also to various external factors, while less than 1% are caused by technical defects of cars. The most common causes of accidents due to technical defects stem from tire wear, bad lighting and poor brake performance. A recent study by the German Research Institute FKA confirms that less than 1% of accidents are caused by technical defects. The new findings are coming, as the European Commission is considering imposing a series of new measures on vehicles to make cars even safer.
