A 4.9 Richter earthquake in the Dardanelles was felt in Istanbul

Earthquake size 4.9 Richter occurred at 21:39 local time (20:39 Greek time) in the Yenice area, in the prefecture of Daradanelion (Canakkale) of the northwest Turkey. The focal depth of the earthquake was located at 10.44 km.

Turkey's interior minister, Ali Gerlikaya, in a post on X notes: “All teams of AFAD and related agencies have started on-site scans for the 4.9-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Yenisei, Canakkale. The earthquake was also felt in neighboring prefectures. There is no negative status at this time. We are monitoring the developments.”
