A. Akar: Greece’s attempt to gain supremacy over Turkey is in vain

Greece seeks to gain supremacy over Turkey, said today the Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, while he again targeted Kastelorizo.

“It is not just an arms race, but a demonstration of weapons systems. They are trying to overtake Turkey through armaments with the encouragement of some other countries. This is in vain,” he said at a meeting with the country’s armed forces in Ankara.

He even accused Greece of building alliances within NATO, arguing that Turkey always wants the problems to be resolved in the context of good neighborliness and international law.

“Unfortunately, some politicians in Greece continue their aggressive actions and rhetoric without stopping. They want to show that Turkey has expansionist aspirations through false allegations,” he added.

Putting Kastelorizo in the spotlight once again, he stated that it is only 2 km away from the Turkish coast and is an island of only 10 square kilometers, but Athens claims a maritime dominance of 40,000 sq. Km.

“When we say no, then they accuse us of expansionist aspirations. We expect them to understand that they can do nothing with these actions and statements,” he said.
