The national comedy “A Brilliant Lawyer”, starring Leandro Hassum got its first trailer this Friday (10). The long opens in Brazilian cinemas on March 6 .
The plot follows lawyer Dr. Michelle (Leandro Hassum), who needs to guarantee the support of his ex-wife and son to prevent the two from moving to the United States with the approval of the courts. On a certain day, he discovers that he will be fired from the law firm where he works because the place will only retain female employees.
Although his name is pronounced in Italian – Mikele – he is often confused with Dr. Michelle, and sees this confusion as an opportunity to keep his job by pretending to be a woman.
The film is directed by Ale McHaddo and reflects her experience as a trans woman, reacting with humor to the absurdities that occur in her life. “If it weren’t for humor, I wouldn’t be able to overcome the prejudices I suffered for being a trans woman. If cinema has the power to discuss inconvenient topics, comedy can go further and dismantle prejudices and misconceptions with a good laugh”, she said, in a statement released by the producer.
McHaddo also wrote the script alongside Luiz Felipe Mazzoni and Cris Wersom. The cast includes Claudia Campolina, Bruno Garcia, Marcelo Mansfield, Paulinho Serra and Olivia Lopes, and special appearances by Nany People and Danilo Gentili.
The director has worked alongside Hassum in several productions, such as “Love Gives Work”, “Love without Measure” and “My Brother-in-Law is a Vampire”.
