A buffer to return to normal life: the hypothesis of Germany

They called him pass buffer. It is a hypothesis, but in Germany it has been discussed for days. To restart some activities and return the population to a life similar to the pre-Covid one. You could ask for a swab and if the result was negative, you could go to the cinema, the theater, the restaurant.

A group of scientists from Marburg reports it Republic, proposed a system for recording the results: with this database those who are negative to the swab can do the activities they want. It would be worth for a day only because the buffer is the photograph of a moment, but it would still be a way to get different categories back to work and would allow a form of return to normal.

Obviously it could only be done with a limited cost of tampons. The turning point could come in March. German Health Minister Jens Spahn announced that, from 1 March, “all citizens will be able to be tested with unsanitary rapid tests by qualified personnel free of charge”. Pharmacies and other centers could do them right away. The next step would be to get to cheap and simple do-it-yourself tests which would give the daily green light for activities from the pool to the museum.

The swab method would be faster than the vaccination passport proposed by several parties which presupposes a diffusion of vaccines that is far from coming.

In Germany there is currently one of the toughest lockdowns in Europe. Bars, restaurants, gyms, museums, cinemas and shops have been closed for two months, excluding those for basic necessities and pharmacies. The economy minister has promised refreshments for all companies after protests over the long closure. The companies have also gotten to be involved in the discussion on the next choices of the Merkel government and the governors.
