A Democratic lawmaker has filed a lawsuit against Trump

A Democratic MP testified lawsuit against Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer and other associates of the former president, blaming them for the deadly attack on the Capitol, when a crowd of protesters tried to stop the validation of the result of the November presidential election.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, states that attack, in which five people were killed, was “the immediate and foreseeable consequence” of the illegal actions of Trump, of Giuliani, of the former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., of Republican MP Mo Bruce, and others.

“As a result, the defendants are responsible for the injuries and damage that followed,” said Eric Swallwell, a Member of the Knesset for Kadima.

Swallow was one of the lawmakers who took the lead in Trump’s Senate trial last month, accusing him of inciting violence. The Senate voted in favor of ousting the former Republican president.

The lawsuit is based on evidence from this trial, such as Trump’s Twitter posts before the invasion.describes the former president’s efforts to pressure state officials not to declare Joe Biden the winner of the election.

Trump spokesman Jason Miller described Swallow in a statement “Unreliable bastard”.

Giuliani did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Swallow is the second lawmaker to sue Trump. It was preceded last month by Benny Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, who accuses Trump, Giuliani and two far-right groups of plotting to incite unrest.

With his lawsuit, Swallow asks to awarded monetary compensation because the defendants violated a law prohibiting conspiracies aimed at infringing on civil rights.

Jessica Levinson, a professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said Swallowell’s lawsuit is not a “toy” but could eventually lead to a Trump jury.
