Samsung Electronics boasted of its new achievement. In cinemas across Russia, the rental of a full-length film has begun, completely shot on the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (review).
The shooting of the melodrama “Twice by Two” took place in Moscow in August 2020. As noted by the press service of Samsung, the director of the project Vitaly Manyukov chose a smartphone for filming for its convenience and ease of use. As a result, the film crew managed to significantly reduce the time spent on the film, keeping within 7 shifts, not counting the processing of the footage.
Vitaly Manyukov said:
Making a movie with a smartphone is definitely a bold challenge, first of all to yourself. I was interested to explore the potential of using a smartphone as a full-fledged camera for filming commercial spectator films. And the result, frankly, exceeded expectations. The image is more than decent. For independent studios like mine, this discovery certainly gives a competitive advantage, because shooting with a smartphone significantly reduces production costs, primarily by speeding up the filming process. ”
The main roles in the project were performed by Olga Litvinova (“Crew”, “Snoop-3”), Ivan Nikolaev (“Club”), Andrey Kryzhny (“Fizruk”), Grigory Danziger, Artur Dilanyan and others. The plot of the film focuses on the story of two couples seeking to save friendship and relationship after a quarrel.
