The General Secretariat of Trade and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Development and Investments, with the aim of protecting the consumer public from unfair commercial practices, announces that an administrative fine of a total of 140,000 euros has been imposed on the company THERMOIL SA, for violations of provisions of the consumer legislation.
The unfair commercial practices followed by the company, and for which violations were confirmed, concerned:
– In the non-delivery of the agreed quantity of heating oil within the deadline provided for in the contract, nor in the deadline agreed later with the consumers.
– In the non-return of the price to consumers who canceled their order for the above reason.
– Providing misleading information about the availability and delivery time of heating oil.
– In the invitation to buy the product at a particularly attractive price without, however, informing consumers of the reasons why the company could not supply it at that price, in a reasonable time and in reasonable quantities (“bait” advertising).
It is pointed out that consumers can report violations of consumer law on the consumer line 1520 operating at the General Secretariat of Trade and Consumer Protection.
