The European Commission announced today that it is imposing a fine of 2.95 billion euros on Google, defying the threats of US President Donald Trump. Brussels believe that the American technological colossus abused its dominant position in the field of online advertising (ADTech). The fine was expected, since by 2023 the EU threatened to demand that a part of the group’s activities in this area, however, have not been decided at this stage. The announcement of the fine was delayed at the beginning of the week due to the tension between the EU and the US, as a source was confirmed by the Commission. On August 26, Trump threatened the countries or organizations trying to implement regulations on US technology companies to impose their duties or export restrictions.
