A 12-foot great white shark that washed up on a Massachusetts beach this week had to be loaded into a small truck to be transported. The Orleans Police Department shared photos of the dead 542-pound fish, which was loaded and lying on its side, with its mouth open, after beach patrol officers discovered it on Nauset Beach in Cape Cod Tuesday morning. Dennis Reed, who runs Nauset Recovery Inc., took it upon himself to transport the body to the Orleans transfer station, where the Great White Shark Ocean Conservation Society performed an autopsy, the Cape Cod Times reported. He reported that the shark’s mouth was bloody, but its fins were still intact. “There were no bites or anything on him,” Reid told the newspaper. “It looked like he had a lot of internal bleeding because there was a lot of blood around his mouth,” he added.
