One fluffy Pekingese with black and brown mulberry and big expressive eyes, called Wasabi won the “Best in Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Tarrytown, New York.
Also, as reported by APE-MPE, to a beautiful whippet, Bourbon won second place, receiving the “Reserve” award in the competition.
This year was the first time the show did not take place in Manhattan. It was built outside the Lyndhurst Mansion of a 19th-century castle with a 67-acre park by the Hudson River in New York. It is one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and has been held annually since 1877. More than 200 different purebreds compete and judges determine which “contestants” best meet their breed standards.
Matthew, a French Bulldog, and Connor, an English Sheepdog, were also in the finals along with a West Terland White Terrier named Boy, a German Shorthaired Pointer, Zade and a Samogent, the famous Striker.
The winning dogs competed and succeeded among thousands of others at the American Kennel Club National Championship in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
