A former Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy who has defected to Moscow and become one of the Kremlin’s most prolific propagandists is working directly with Russia’s military intelligence agency (GRU) to spread disinformation and produce deepfakes targeting the candidacy of Kamala Harris, according to Russian documents obtained by a European intelligence agency. According to the Washington Post, the documents reveal that John Mark Duggan, who also served in the US Marines, was funded by a GRU officer. Dugan needed funding to acquire an AI program as the fake news websites he created started having problems accessing Western AI technologies. Dugan’s liaison in the GRU is a senior officer who uses the pseudonym Yuri Khorosevsky.
