Well, the EV6 really didn’t come first to the finish line – it was overtaken by the McLaren 570S. But all the other expensive sports cars were left behind. Of course, if the base EV6 with rear-wheel drive and a 170 hp electric motor participated in the race, it would not have stood a chance. But the company put the top-end version of the electric car in the sprint – the EV6 GT with two electric motors with a total capacity of 585 hp. (torque – 740 Nm), acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 260 km / h. By the way, the McLaren 570S, which came to the finish line first, has even a little less power – 570 hp.
In general, this is the new reality – ordinary, relatively inexpensive electric cars may well compete in a sprint race with real sports cars. And the example of EV6 showed that in order to overtake the same Ferrari or Lamborghini, it is not at all necessary to be a mad Tesla Model S Plaid.
