A. Georgiadis: Common challenges for Greece and Cyprus

The Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, spoke about the “strange” and “difficult times” we are living in after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, speaking at the “Famagusta Business Forum” in Cyprus, on the topic “Doing business in times of crisis”.

“The truth is that we may not have realized exactly what has happened since February 24, 2022. It is likely that future historians will be very concerned with 2022 as a turning point in European history, perhaps in the world. “, which creates much greater challenges at the level of the economy and much greater needs for closer cooperation between Greece and Cyprus”, said the Minister of Development.

As he noted, “the challenges we face are absolutely common. The solutions that exist are completely identical. I do not hide from you that I am one of the politicians in Greece who admires the progress of the Republic of Cyprus very much.”

He added that “we Greeks have a lot to learn from our compatriots in the Republic of Cyprus and to follow in their footsteps. They managed much faster than us, thanks to their leadership, to escape the crisis of 2013 and reach today to be one “A state with stable public finances, strong prospects for the future, low interest rates and a competitive economy. We did it too, but with a one-year delay, which cost the Greek people a lot.”
