A gunman killed three Israeli civilians today in an attack near the Allenby Bridge, one of the crossing points between the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank and Jordan, before security forces opened fire and killed him, Israeli authorities said. “A terrorist approached the Allenby Bridge area from Jordan in a truck, got out of the truck and opened fire on Israeli security forces operating on the bridge,” the Israeli armed forces announced. “The terrorist was neutralized by security forces, three Israeli civilians died as a result of the attack,” they added. The said border crossing is also known as King Hussein Bridge. It is located about halfway between Amman and Jerusalem, north of the Dead Sea. Jordanian authorities announced that they had launched an investigation into the incident and a Jordanian official told Reuters that they had closed the bridge for this reason.
