A hacker robbed the owner of an NFT from the Moonbird series for $1.5 million

The owner of NFT, having followed the link sent by the scammer to a malicious site, made a deal and lost 29 non-fungible tokens.

Proof Collective member Cirrus May 25 informed on Twitter that he was the victim of a phishing attack, as a result of which he lost $ 1.5 million in NFT. He said that in the morning he received a link from an unknown person, following which he went to a certain trading platform, carried out a transaction, as a result of which he lost his tokens from the Moonbird collection.

“Shortly after I followed the phishing link, I was hacked. It’s disgusting to see things like this. Let this be a reminder to you all to never click on links and bookmark the marketplaces and sites you use,” Cirrus warned collectors.

He added that hardware wallets do not protect against scammers when you conduct transactions yourself.

Another member of the Proof Collective, a long-time NFT owner under the nickname Dollar, warned hacker under the nickname DVincent that his identity was almost revealed through the token movement scheme, and if he does not return the NFT, he will be arrested:

“You are already half doxed. Better get the $2 million back now or you’ll be behind bars. The full report to the FBI has already been submitted by members of the Proof Collective.”

This is not the first case of fraud by a hacker under the nickname DVincent. A user under the nickname Just1n.eth said that the criminal had previously tried to negotiate a deal with him. User named Sulfaxyz informedwhich almost became a victim of this hacker, but turned out to be more prudent:

“I told him that I would only use NFTTrader, and he kept insisting on a different, fraudulent platform. I said “No. The fraudster was DVincent. So be careful guys!

With the development of the market for non-fungible tokens, NFT collectors are increasingly becoming victims of scammers. In February, collector Larry Lawliet revealed that he had forfeited seven Bored Ape tokens, five Mutant Apes tokens, and one Doodle token, totaling $2.7 million.
