A. Ismailos SA: The biggest achievement of 2021 is optimism

The end of the trading year allows us to discuss with Panos Ismailos the report of the moves made, the results of 2021 and the plan for next year. He himself, pressing on solid foundations, having as a vision the great business development and with a legacy the performance of A. Ismailos SA, sets the bar high for the next two years.

– A. Ismailos SA completes a year with many peculiarities in an ever-changing environment. Despite all the changes, you stand out, managing to complete 2021 having recorded the best performance in the 31 years of the company. How did you do that?

Indeed, 2021 was a complex year, but it ends with multiple benefits for us. The peculiarities were many and each quarter was completely different. At the beginning of the year there were restrictions due to the pandemic, then there were problems with the delivery times of new vehicles, their management has its own peculiarities and in general our environment is changing at a very fast pace. We at A. Ismailos SA during the year we evolved a lot. As a company we have realized the permanence of change and we base it on the durability of our functional models. Understanding the environment, we make a systematic effort in the field of sustainable development. Our people, that is, our customers, suppliers and employees, live in an ecosystem and interact with the company with expectations. Our responsibility is to cultivate prospects and a future, while making A. Ismailos SA better and more sustainable.

In other words, more simply, I believe that in 2021 we have created an improved and stronger connection to our corporate purpose. It is now a given that premium consumers focus more on brands that meet more than one purpose and are not merely brand representatives of a brand. Having during the year approached in a new way all the issues that traditionally concern us, we have improved many things and it is a fact that we record excellent performance.

– In your personal opinion, what are the biggest conquests since 2021?

I will separate them into two different fields. In the field of numbers and in the subject of corporate culture and our operation. Initially, in terms of performance, 2021 was the best year in the history of A. Ismailos SA. in all areas. Indicatively, our turnover is expected to increase by 30% compared to last year, used car sales increased by 50%, new car orders we have received during the year with delivery in 2022 are at a record high, while profitability will have a very significant improvement.

In other words, our indexes are similar to the growth rates of startup companies. But because numbers are one side of the coin, I think the biggest achievement of 2021 is the achievement of optimism. Our staff sees the future with optimism, while an additional 8 out of 10 employees showed an increase in earnings. The management team confirmed the correctness of the business planning of the year and we are left with a legacy of the adaptability we showed towards every factor that went to influence our course.

So, with the above numerical and operational data, we have avoided a significant risk. The risk of not thinking and planning a company on the scale required can condemn it. We are ready to upgrade our collective planning on what we can achieve and continue in the coming years with strong growth.

– In the business environment, what are your goals, what are the problems that exist and where will you aim to grow?

Our goals are to remain the largest distributor of Mercedes-Benz and to grow commercially in all areas. The strength of the brand and the excellent range allows us to design developmentally. The only visible problem is the global problem with the lack of semiconductors, which affects the production of new cars. In any case, we will do our best and remain consistent with our customers and the agreements we have with them. In terms of targeting for our future growth, we have an investment plan for the period 2023-2025, but at the moment we are focusing on the immediate development of used car sales activities. It is the business unit to which we will give special weight in 2022, as it can help us stand out for another year.

– Buying a used car is a special market. A. Ismailos SA has an important position. What will be the future?

In general, the market for a used car is very large, but a quality used car with strict criteria is a very small market and we have a very significant share in it. 2022 will be difficult because delays in new car deliveries are creating distortions in the used car market.

We are not afraid of general difficulty. We have a very good course in used cars for some years. We are also starting in 2022 based on the point where we managed to reach sales in 2021 and a significant growth plan. So, having the liquidity, the resources and a good management of the operating expenses, we will have used cars at competitive prices and we will ensure that 2022 will be a year where premium and quality used cars of all categories can be found in A. Ismailos A .Ε. anyone interested.

– Knowing your relationship with technology, and in particular with the methods of Business Intelligence analysis, what do you plan in the coming years that will improve your operation and the experience that customers gain?

In a world that is changing exponentially, what determines everyone’s success is how well they adapt to change. Adaptability is more important than intelligence. We observe that many industries, including ours, are moving from the raw sale of products and services to a more holistic sale, based on the return that the consumer will have from the market he makes. There, then, technology is our ally, as it allows us to run data analysis models and make predictions that help us make the right decisions. The future will depend to a large extent on the experience that the customer gains not only from the product, but also from his relationship with our company and brand. The car is no longer a simple means of transportation. It has a lot of technology and allows the user to do thousands of things using the capabilities of his systems. So, we as a company focus on developing the use of the systems that cars have and, consequently, on improving the driver’s experience with them.

– Starting a new year, what are your plans for the near future?

In 2022 we will remain focused and we will continue to grow as a company. Beyond that, as I said, we have our own investment plan for 2023-2025. We see positively the opening of the company in new business units. We have thought and worked out the future we want and, connecting it with the history and the real data, we will unfold our plan and our vision for the future of A. Ismailos SA.
