A magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook the coast of Ecuador late Saturday night (local time), damaging buildings and destroying light poles on highways.
The epicenter was reported at 40 kilometers south of Esmeralda in Ecuador, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said.
Videos and videos posted on social media show buildings partially collapsing and some damage inside a hospital after the quake. Another video shows buildings and a car shaking and terrified dogs being thrown into the street.
The authenticity of the plans has not been verified. So far there is no information on injuries from the earthquake.
