A military exoskeleton has been created in Russia: it allows you to shoot more accurately, carry loads and run fast

The information publication RIA Novosti reported that at the Army-2021 forum, representatives of Rostec officially presented the first prototype of a combat exoskeleton equipped with electric motors, which was fully developed and assembled in Russia. This development in the foreseeable future may become part of the standard equipment of soldiers, but so far, of course, the exact timing of mass production has not been named. But in “Rostec” they talked about the possibilities of a unique novelty of its kind, which was created in cooperation with the Research Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.

For example, an exoskeleton operates in two modes (active and passive), providing, when one of them is activated, certain advantages for a soldier, increasing his physical capabilities. In active mode, a soldier can move, spending 15% less energy than without an exoskeleton, and this design also reduces the load on the human spine by exactly half. And in passive mode, the exoskeleton allows a soldier to move with an additional load of up to 60 kilograms on a flat surface. This is a rather serious advantage, especially when it comes to transporting goods, the wounded, or long hikes.

Moreover, Rostec noted that in any case, when using an exoskeleton, the firing accuracy of a soldier’s automatic weapons increases by 20%, which is also very worthy. In addition, the creators of the project stated that their development is able to adapt to certain human characteristics – thanks to this, the movements of the fighter are not constrained by the structure, he can move completely comfortably and intuitively. And, of course, they plan to further improve and refine the exoskeleton – in the near future, the developers plan to change the batteries and the entire control system.
