A month earlier, wife of dead police officer made a post about risk of the profession

A month before being killed in operation, the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police elite agent, José Antônio Lourenço, 39, was honored by his wife in a moving publication on social networks. Lawyer Marcelle Persant highlighted his partner’s vocation to serve society, but also revealed the anguish in the face of the risks of the profession.

“It’s a mixture of feelings: Is this the last day I see my husband? Is the police work so necessary? Why so much hatred? It breaks there, love! I’m in prayer for you,” wrote Marcelle.

In the same publication, made on April 17, she approached the dilemma faced by police in Rio:

“On the one hand, organized crime. Bandados everywhere, on the streets and networks, ready to take the life of the first policeman who appears in front.

The post, which brings photos of the couple in moments of joy and tension, also exalted Lourenço’s determination:

“I take the #tbt to say how proud of you, your profession, your claw and your purpose. They say a couple without admiration does not last long. There is something that is not lacking: admiration for you.”

Among the comments, Lourenço himself replied citing a corporation code:

“There is a cm who speaks, ‘Strength and honor guide my mind; strength and honor that forge a combatant… my strength comes from God; and my honor is to be from the core.”

Known as Mocotó, the Core police officer was shot in the head by criminals during a Civil Police operation in City of God, on Monday (19). The action investigated clandestine contaminated ice factories. He was rescued to Lourenço Jorge Hospital in Barra da Tijuca, but could not resist.

The body will be buried on Tuesday afternoon (20), at Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in the West Zone of Rio.

Through social networks, Governor Claudio Castro (PL) determined that the police remain in the community until those responsible for the crime are arrested.

“We went to comply with judicial determinations to close an ice factory that worked with contaminated water and were greeted,” he wrote.
