A 37-year-old woman from Virginia was found guilty of murdering her two young daughtersin a perverse attempt, according to prosecutors, to be avenged her ex-husband, who intended to move in with one of his daughters.
THE Veronica Youngblood has admitted to killing her children, 15-year-old Sharon Castro and 5-year-old Brooklynn Youngblood — but said innocent due to mental illness. However, the jurors were not convinced that the mental illness her was the only factor in the murders.
The jury on Wednesday convicted Youngblood of two counts of murder first degree and two counts of use of a weapon as a felony. During the trial, Fairfax County Assistant District Attorney Kelsey Gill described Youngblood as a malicious, selfish and intentional killer, according to New York Post.
As her teenage daughter lay dying, Youngblood called her ex-husband, Ron Youngblood, to tell him that he hated and that he had shot the children. He planned to move with the couple’s youngest child to Missouri. Killing the children was her revengeprosecutors said.

“This case goes far beyond the simple existence of mental illness,” Gill said during closing arguments. “This case goes far beyond depression, PTSD, suicide».
Youngblood had bought one pistol nine days before the murders, Gill told jurors. She had given to her children sleeping gums so they can’t stop her outburst in their apartment in McLean, Virginia.
The little one Brooklyn died at the scene of the crime from a bullet in the head, while the Sharon she was shot twice – once in the back and once in the chest – but lived long enough to call 911 and say her mom pulled the trigger. After all, died in hospital.
Youngblood’s defense attorney said the Argentinian-born defendant grew up in poverty and it was done sex worker after giving birth to her eldest daughter at just 16 years old. “He practiced a South American religion whose followers believe they can communicate with the dead.”
Youngblood admitted to investigators in a taped conversation that she had killed her children, then said she deserved death penalty.
