A mother from Houston is accused of killing her son with a deadly mixture of drugs in order to collect the money from the life insurance of the 6-year-old.
Ashley Marks, 25, was arrested Wednesday for the crime that took place in June 2020, when little Jason Sanchez-Marks died of drug overdose, according to the report of the local station KHOU 11.
“I believe she poisoned her child to collect the money from two life insurance policies she gave her son a month before his death,” said County Attorney Gilbert Sawtelle.
Marks is an insurance consultant in Texas and is accused of giving her child a lethal dose methamphetamine inside a pill cocktail. The boy and his 4-year-old sister were living with their grandfather at the time, having been diagnosed with tuberculosis.
The mother visited them daily to give them their medicines. “The grandfather said that he communicated repeatedly with the mother over a period of 2 days, informing her that the 6-year-old was ill. “Neither the mother nor the grandfather sought medical help for the 6-year-old child, as his condition worsened”, the prosecutor noted.
The child was found by his grandfather dead on June 27, 2020.
