It looks like the movie production process could seriously change in at least one direction in the near future.
Somy has introduced the Crystal LED family of modular display systems for showrooms, lobbies and film production.

More precisely, there are two series: B and C. The first is distinguished by its high brightness (1800 cd / m22) and a special anti-reflective coating, which, according to Sony, is ideal for creating virtual scenery when shooting films. This series was developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The second provides a high contrast ratio (1,000,000: 1) and stands out with a special black coating, making these displays ideal for showrooms, customer service centers and so on.

The new products are modular panels, so customers are free to create displays of huge sizes. Separately, Sony emphasizes high energy efficiency and the absence of cooling fans. It should also be said that all new items are equipped with the latest X1 for Crystal LED processor.
Returning to film production, Crystal LED B-series panels replace the famous green screens. In particular, similar technologies were used in the filming of the series The Mandalorian.
The new panels will be available in the summer, but no prices yet. However, these are specialized products designed for large companies, so the prices will be appropriate.
