A new species of lizard has been identified in the south Peru as announced by the National Service of Naturally Protected Areas.
This new species of lizard was named “Liolaemus warjantay” and was discovered according to the relevant announcement “in the nature reserve of the Kotahuasi sub-basin” which is a protected natural zone of the Arequipa region, in the south of Peru, at an altitude of 4,500 meters.
“A valuable contribution of Peru’s protected natural areas to the world is the recent discovery of a new species of lizard,” the statement said, according to the Athens News Agency.

THE lizard has a dark gray color on its head and light yellow scales in the case of females.
The Kotahuasi Sub-Basin Nature Reserve is a 4,905,500-acre protected area.
